APS at 75: 1936 - 2011
Welcome to APS at 75
Altrincham Preparatory School is one of the most respected and famous schools in the area. Founded in 1936 by a group of masters from the neighbouring Altrincham Grammar School, APS celebrates 75 years of leading education standards in 2011.
Through this site you can discover what made APS the success story it is today, explore some of our heritage and memories, as well as discover about our buildings and sites.
We have made available some original archive documents, including a copy of the very first propspectus, written in 1936. There is also a copy of the Ministry of Education Inspection dating from 1956.
Perhaps you were a pupil at South Downs Road and remember the Marlborough Road site as a playing field?
Maybe you went to Highbury not long after we bought the building in 1950, or perhaps you were in the first year at our Marlborough Road school site?
Who were the Headmasters in your time? Do you remember Mr Mason at the helm, or perhaps a generation later Mr MrCay?
Did you live nearby and watch crocodiles of APS blazers walk past on their way to football?
Whatever your link, please contact and share your memories.
We'd love to hear your stories, share your memories, and look through any photographs you might have.
Not only will this help us build up a wonderful picture of bygone days at APS, but anything you are able to share will be used by current pupils as part of an extensive series of projects and research.
Hopefully over the course of our celebrations we will be able to expand on what we've written and allow a complete picture of 75 years at Altrincham Preparatory School.
